Going by the Word and Not our Feeling's
Sammy Burgess
Genesis 27:22
Intro:
I am convinced that one of the reasons so many Christians are on/off ... hot/cold ... up/down ... is that much of their Christian experience is dictated by feelings and not by the Word of GOD.
ONE OF THE GREATEST DAYS OF THEIR LIFE WILL BE WHEN THEY REALIZE THAT THEY DON'T HAVE TO LIVE BY THEIR FEELINGS - THEY CAN LIVE BY AND TRUST IN THE WORD OF GOD!
Many have their Spiritual jumper cables hooked up to their feelings rather than GOD'S Word. There may be some here that will evaluate this service by what you feel, rather than by what you hear.
If you are not moved emotionally, then to you the service was dead. It doesn't matter what GOD had to say to our hearts from His Word, you didn't feel anything, so you want get anything from the service.
AGAIN I REPEAT: THE GREATEST DAY IN THE LIVES OF SO MANY WILL BE WHEN THEY REALIZE THAT THEY DON' T NEED TO LIVE BY THEIR FEELINGS, BUT BY THE WORD OF GOD!
Now DON'T MISUNDERSTAND Me: I did not say that there weren't any feelings in this matter of being saved. To be very honest with you, I know a few churches and people that need to loosen up a bit and enjoy their Salvation ...
But in some cases, if we were to remove all the feelings out of this matter of living for GOD, the ranks would thin out fast. Many groups would go out of business in a matter of weeks if the emotions were not catered too ...
Here in our text we find an example of someone who made a decision based on their feelings, rather than the word he heard. - Isaac was an old man.
He called his son Esau, the eldest, the firstborn. He gave him some instructions. He told Esau to go and prepare him some savory meat that he loved; and in return he would bless him.
Rebekah overhears Isaac's instruction's to Esau's. So she came up with a plan so that Jacob would be the recipient of the blessing. Rebekah prepared the meal that Isaac asked for.
She took so ...
