2 Corinthians 5:20-6:2

Baseball is known as America's sport. You might hear something is as American as baseball, apple pie, or Chevrolet. Baseball is in the Bible. "In the Big-Inning God created the heavens and the earth." Tennis is also in the Bible. "Daniel served in the King's court." Motorcycles are also in the Bible. "Joshua's Triumph was heard throughout the land." I haven't found golf in the Bible yet, but I am still looking for it. It may be "Moses hit the rock with his rod."
American's are sports minded. As parents we know what it is to follow the little league program from T ball on up.
I want us to think about runs batted in for Jesus. After we come to know the Lord, we are to help others come to know him so they can serve him and go to heaven.
I want us to think about each individual having a turn at bat. Life can throw us some fast balls and some curve balls. Sometimes we even face a knuckle ball. But God has made it possible for us to hit the ball and advance on the bases.
I want us to think about each base standing for something important in the Christian life.
1. FIRST BASE STANDS FOR SALVATION.
Ecclesiastes says, "There is a time to be born and a time to die…" The implication is that there is a time in the middle for us to know and serve the lord. The idea is that we don't have all the time in the world. There is urgency to make things right with God. "Behold, now is the acceptable time, behold, now is the day of salvation.
-It is amazing how many people strike out at the beginning. It is amazing how many people try to hide in the batter's circle procrastinating their time at bat. But time keeps moving right along.
1. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Paul concluded in Romans that the whole world is guilty before God. That includes you!
