INTRODUCTION

We are resuming our series from 1 Peter, "Living in a Stable Economy."
If this is your first time here, the stable economy to which we are referring is the economy of the kingdom of heaven.

The etymology of the word "economy" is "household management."

The Apostle Peter tells the recipients of this letter who are social aliens because they are living in a foreign territory that they belong to the family of God regardless of being stripped of their homes.
The economy of the kingdom of heaven being lived out here on the earth is stable, versus the instability of our world that we see in what's going on in the Middle East as well as earthquakes, tsunamis, wildfires throughout Texas, etc.

The apostle Peter is showing these Christ-followers how to live as aliens, strangers, sojourners who are, for the time being, living on this earth.

He has told them that they are to be unique and set apart for God's purposes and for His glory.

This morning we are looking at how we are to live as aliens within the context of marriage relationships.

If there were ever an arena where Christ's presence needs to be seen, it's in the arena of marriage. The world needs to see that marriage can be a beautiful and fulfilling relationship.

The goal this morning is to have us look at what God has to say about marriage.

Marriage, according to Cameron Diaz, isn't meant to last a lifetime.

"I think the big misconception in our society is that we're supposed to meet the one when we're 18 and we're supposed to get married to them and love them for the rest of our lives," she told UK's Stylist magazine via Huffington Post. "Bulls**t."
