This morning I am going to share with you about the exciting subject of…..suffering.

We are going to look at what Peter says about suffering and then look at what our response should be.

This morning's message is entitled, "What is your defense?"

Perhaps we have ALL been in situations where we had to answer for something we did or answer for what we believe.

ILLUSTRATION
A man and his wife got pulled over by a State Trooper.
When the trooper got to the car, he asked the man driving, "Sir, I clocked you speeding at 85 in a 70 MPH zone."
The man replied, "I wasn't aware I was driving that fast."
His wife said, 'Yes you did honey; I told you that about a mile ago."
The husband gave his wife a glaring look.
The trooper asked if he knew that his license was expired, to which he replied, "No."
His wife said, "Honey, I told you weeks ago that you needed to get your license renewed."
The husband, getting a little peeved, again gave his wife a glaring look.
The officer then asked the husband if he was aware that he wasn't wearing his seatbelt, to which the husband replied, "I unhooked it as soon as you stopped me."
The wife responded, "No you didn't, dear. You never wear your seatbelt."
The husband, incensed by this time, told his wife to shut up.
The officer then asked the wife, "Ma'am, is your husband always this belligerent?"
She said, "No; only when he's drunk."

This man didn't have a very good defense as to why he was suffering or to why he would eventually be suffering.

But this is not the type of suffering that we are talking about.
