A church recently published the qualifications they were looking for in their new pastor. The list was given the title, "The Ideal Pastor" and forwarded to their search committee.
He preaches only 20 minutes, but thoroughly expounds the Word.
He condemns sin, but never hurts anyone's feelings.
He works from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., doing everything from preaching in the pulpit, to counseling, to janitorial work.
He makes $200 a week, wears designer clothes, buys new books every week, drives a new car, and gives $100 a week to the church.
His family is completely model in deportment, dress and attitude.
He is 26 years old, and has been preaching for 30 years.
He is tall, short, thin, heavyset, handsome, has one brown eye and one blue eye; hair parted down the middle, left side dark and straight, right side blond and wavy.
He has a burning desire to work with teenagers and spends all of his time with the senior adults.
He smiles all the time with a straight face, because he has a sense of humor that keeps him seriously dedicated to his work.
He makes 15 calls a day on church members, spends all of his time evangelizing the unchurched, and is never out of the office.
In Jeremiah 5, God forms His own search committee. God gives Jeremiah a chance to save his civilization. All he needed to do was find 1 righteous man.
(1) "Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth."
God wasn't looking for 1000. Not 100. Not ...
