We've been talking about faith on Wednesday nights, and we want to continue to talk about faith. Tonight, I want to talk about how faith conquers stress, faith conquering stress. Anyone who doesn't need any relief from stress can just tune in to the music that the youth are making downstairs, and it will be all right.
If you will turn to John chapter 14 and look at verse 26; we are going to see what Jesus says concerning peace. We are living in a world that's hungry for peace.
In the last 3500 years of world history, we have only had 286 years of peace. So if you put 286/3500, you can see that we don't have much peace in the world. And yet, Jesus promises peace.
In John 14, the Lord is talking about the coming of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, Who would be sent for us.
In verse 26, He says, "But the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
So, Jesus, here, promises peace, and He says, "It is my peace." It is not just some peace we drum up within ourselves. Jesus says, "I'm going to give you a peace that is supernatural. I am going to give you a peace under stress."
He didn't say that He is going to take the troubles of the world away. He said, "In the world you are going to have tribulation." Tribulati ...
