How to Have Confidence in the Midst of Chaos

Erwin McManus relates the story of the summer his youngest son went to youth camp. "I figured he wasn't going to hear all those ghost stories, because ghost stories can really cause a kid to have nightmares. But unfortunately, since it was a Christian camp and they didn't tell ghost stories, because we don't believe in ghosts, they told demon and Satan stories instead. And so when Aaron got home, he was terrified," McManus said.
His son kept struggling night after night because he was afraid of what would get him with the lights out. "Daddy, Daddy, would you pray for me that I would be safe?" Erwin responded, "Aaron, I will not pray for you to be safe. I will pray that God will make you dangerous, so dangerous that demons will flee when you enter the room." And he goes, "All right. Have you ever felt like that little boy? I did the exact same thing when I was a child, afraid of the dark, believing that at just any moment a huge monster was about to jump out of the closet and eat me up! That makes it really hard to go to sleep. Thank God for the blessing of a mom and dad.
People today are so fearful, panicked, worry-filled. Yet, I want to remind you of our loving Heavenly Father whose presence never fails. You can be confident in the midst of chaos because of the awesome presence of God in your life.
Hebrews 13:5-6, For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we may boldly say: "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"
