We have joy…when our Confidence comes from letting God work in us
1) be aware of the work of God going on
2) the nature of the work is that of God working IN us
3) understanding the 'real' purpose of what God's doing in us

6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
I felt led to share with you just this one verse this morning…
because in it we see the whole foundation of why we can be confident.
Verse 6 tells us of the Important theological Truth that is the CONFIDENCE in Jesus in all things.
Let's frame this in a good theological understanding,
WHERE was Paul when he wrote this letter? He was in the Roman jail…
So here is Paul, a Christian, and he's full of joy and happiness even in Jail…
and on top of that, here's Paul who has been
persecuted for proclaiming that Jesus is his Savior…
and that Jesus Christ is the only way, the truth, and the life,
and that no one comes to the Father but through Jesus,
here's Paul who as a Christian has been
beaten and jailed for his beliefs…even in Philippi.
but here is Paul, writing to the Philippian church about
how he has joy, and how he has confidence…
Do you think you could be THAT happy if all that had happened to us?
If we're going to have God's joy, then as Christians, we really need to get a grasp on the real significance of what Paul's telling us, because it is out of this foundational truth of having a great confidence in Jesus,
that we have joy in our lives regardless of any other circumstance…
be those, finances; work; evil bosses;
screwed up government; greedy politicians; misbehaving children; ...
