WHAT'S IN YOUR WALLET?
Matthew 6:19-21
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.


What's in your wallet? What treasures are you gathering? What are you seeking? Working for? Going after with all your heart? Let me put it this way, "Who wants to be a millionaire?" Apparently, a lot of folk do. I don't know about you, but I am increasingly weary of the reality shows on TV. I'm tired of seeing folk eat slugs and worms and bugs and innards - just to win $50,000. I don't want to see people risk life and limb for 15 minutes of fame. I can't watch families pitted against one another, vowing treachery and deceit. Folk are selling their souls for treasures that won't last.

But let's not be too quick to judge. It's not just those extreme people who must answer the question, but each of us here today must give an account. So, What's in your wallet?

Are you working two or three jobs to pay for stuff you don't really need? Are you struggling to get the plasma TV and the camera phones and the nice rims so some thief can break in and steal or mug you along the way? Are you living in a house or driving a car that you can't afford?

What do you have to show for the time you spend each day? You know, we're some busy folk - don't have a lot of time to spare - I'm sure most of us had to do some juggling and shifting of schedules to be able to be here today to join in this sacred fellowship. But, at the end of the day, honestly - when you've run here and there and everywhere - what's in your wallet? What have you accomplished in the time you've had that will be worth keeping - ...
