For the last few weeks we have been looking at how God used different individuals to bring about deliverance to people who found themselves oppressed by their enemy.
When someone is oppressed it means that they are weighed down or burdened.
It can either be satanic or as a result of their own sin.
It's like their life is being choked out of them
They are not experiencing freedom and joy and peace in their lives.
They need to be delivered.
That's when and where God uses us to deliver.
Could be by sharing with them the gospel of Christ.
Could be by meeting a physical or emotional need they have.
Two weeks ago we looked at one of the great stories about how God used 300 men against 135,000 most of them were killed in that initial encounter because of the chaos that ensued after Gideon's army blew the trumpets, crashed the pitchers and elevated the torches.
Let's see what takes place after that.
TEXT: JUDGES 7:23-25
Sometimes after a church has experienced a great victory, advance of the kingdom, or even a time of revival, or even when an individual does something so extraordinary, a tragedy will sometime follow, or they experience a "down-side" because they let down their hair for a little while.
You'll remember that in the downward spiral of rebellion with which we began this series, there is the step of complacency which comes after being delivered. We see that all through the book of Judges.
We've all seen those sports teams who had incredible victories or experienced a championship, only to have it clouded by someone doing something crazy.
In Jim Collins' latest book, How the Mighty Fall, he shares about how some of the strongest companies can plummet from great to irrelevant. If that's the case, he says we should be "wary about our own success."
Every institution is vulnerable, no matt ...
