INTRODUCTION
1. STUDY HALL N. AN AREA FOR STUDENTS TO WORK AND STUDY IN A QUIET ATMOSPHERE TO MAXIMIZE THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE. ALL OF US IN THIS ROOM, WHO HAVE BEEN STUDENTS, REMEMBER THE THRILL, THE JOY, AND THE OUTRIGHT ELATION THAT COMES FROM GOING TO STUDY HALL. WE ARE GOING TO BEGIN, TODAY, A SERIES OF MESSAGES ON STUDY HALL. AS A RESPONSE TO SOME QUESTIONS YOU ASKED CONCERNING TOPICS YOU WANTED ADDRESSED. YOU SAID THAT YOU NEEDED A REFRESHER COURSE ON SUCH THINGS AS: SEX, DIVORCE, REMARRIAGE, AND THE PROBLEM OF PAIN AND SUFFERING, AMONG OTHERS THINGS.
2. I PULLED OFF THESE RULES THAT GOVERN ALL STUDY HALLS THAT I WANT US TO ADHERE TO OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL WEEKS. WE PROVIDED THEM FOR YOU IN YOUR ORDER OF SERVICE, SO LET'S LOOK AT THEM.
IN LINE WITH THE ABOVE PREMISE, THE FOLLOWING RULES AND REGULATIONS ARE NECESSARY TO INSURE THE PROPER ATMOSPHERE.
(1) STUDENTS ARE TO ARRIVE AT THE STUDY HALL ON TIME, WITH ALL NECESSARY STUDY MATERIALS. UPON THE STUDENT'S FOURTH TARDY TO STUDY HALL, THE STUDENT WILL BE ASSIGNED NURSERY DUTY FOR 4 WEEKS.
(2) STUDENTS ARE TO TAKE THEIR ASSIGNED SEATS, FACING FORWARD, AND LISTEN ATTENTIVELY (NO TALKING) UNTIL STUDY IS COMPLETE.
(3) IT IS EXPECTED THAT STUDENTS REMAINING IN THE STUDY HALL WILL BE IN THEIR SEAT, FACING FORWARDS AND ARE NOT TO BE TALKING OR PASSING NOTES.
(4) STUDENTS SHOULD COME TO STUDY HALL WITH SUFFICIENT SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE TO KEEP THEM AWAKE FOR THE ENTIRE PERIOD.
(5) STUDENTS ARE REMINDED THAT THE SUPERVISING TEACHER SETS THE CLIMATE AND EXPECTATIONS FOR THE STUDY HALL. NON-COMPLIANCE WITH THE SUPERVISING TEACHER'S EXPECTATIONS WILL RESULT IN DETENTION AND/OR AN OFFICE REFERRAL.
(6) STUDENTS ARE REMINDED THAT IT IS A PRIVILEGE TO SIGN OUT OF STUDY HALL (I.E. HONOR PASSES OR STAFF PASS.) ANY ABUSE OF THAT PRIVILEGE MAY RESULT IN THE STUDENT BEING RESTRICTED TO STUDY HALL IND ...
