The secular press, pundits, bloggers, and political parties have done a wonderful job of dividing this country. We are no longer Americans. We are right wing fundamentalists or left winged loons. We are green or yellow. We are pro-life or pro-death-(choice). We are small government or BIG government. We are pro-military, or anti-military. We are socialists and we are capitalists.
It would be wonderful if we just had a government that would be in the middle right and get on with business. But we are so fragmented that may never happen again in our lifetime.
I believe that we have allowed things to divide us in church just like we have allowed things to divide us in this nation. We are for contemporary worship. We are for traditional worship. We are for leaving things as they are. We are for change.
Let me tell you how to bring discord in a church. I am a pro at this because I have been involved in church for so many years. What if I told you that the church should be political in the way it does its business? People are selected to positions based on their relationships to those who do the selecting. What if I told you that the church should be made up of cliques? One clique here and one clique there, clique here, clique everywhere-Old McDonald.........
What if I told you the church should be made up of disgruntled members? The members are not contented, not happy, and they don't want anyone else to be happy or contented. What if I told you that the church should be made up of complainers? Complaining is a spiritual gift you know???? What if I told you the church should be made up of baby Christians. These are Christians who have never grown up. What if I told you that the church should be made up of members filled with pride?
