Proverbs 2:1-22 (NIV)
As Solomon tells us, we have to really LOOK for Wisdom...it doesn't just drop into our laps...in fact Solomon says in verse 4, "IF you look for it, (Wisdom) as you would silver or gold or as you would for a hidden treasure"...
That's some really ‘intense' seeking....and as we go through these verses today, would you think about these questions?
What's our role?
What does God do?
What we get out of it...or the ‘benefits' or good stuff
And, what's the warning?
First, let's go to the warning...
because we need to listen to God's warnings because He
is trying to keep us from getting hurt or have our lives trashed.
So Solomon says in v. 18, 19, and 22,
18 For her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
19 None who go to her return or attain the paths of life.
22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.
If you go chasing after the literal adulteress, you're going down to your death...
in other words, bad things are going to happen to you.
That could be physically bad stuff, like getting Aids or other STD's
It could be getting shot because of a ‘not-so-opened-minded-boyfriend or husband'
Or it could be, if we take this also as the symbolic adulteress,
this then being seen as anything that entices us to sin,
then we're going to get bad consequences...bad stuff will happen...
If You throw in with the wrong people, they'll take you for a ride financially;
If you chase after ‘stuff' or the ‘gods of this world', then you'll slowly turn from your relationship with the Lord and find He seems farther away.
All of those things would be just like going down to the dead.
So we've been warned, ...as Christians...follow God...make Him # 1 in your life.
Now let's go back to the ...
