INTRODUCTION: This evening, we will begin our study of God's final plagues upon earth. Thus far, we have had the seven seal judgments and the seven trumpet judgments, bringing us up to the end of the tribulation period and the Battle of Armageddon.

The seal judgments began the tribulation period, referred to as The Beginning of Sorrows. The seven trumpet judgments brought us through the last 3 ½ years of the tribulation, referred to as The Great Tribulation. And now, we will witness the culmination of it all, as God brings everything to a close.

Let's begin our study in chapter 15...

I. A SIGN IN HEAVEN (15: 1-4)

A. Seven Angels (vs. 1)

1. John said, "I saw another sign in heaven great and marvelous..." The Greek word, marvelous, means, something to be wondered at, to be amazed with. In other words, what is about to take place is beyond description. These last seven plagues contain the wrath of God. John said, "...for in them is filled up the wrath of God." It gives you the idea of bursting at the seams, kind of like chapter 14, where John refers to the reaping of the vineyards, thrusting in the sickle, "...for her grapes are fully ripe" (14:18b). God's vials are full of wrath; it's time to unload.

B. Victorious Saints (vv. 2-4)

1. These are the same saints we have discussed throughout the book of Revelation. They are the martyred faithful. They have gotten the victory over the beast (antichrist), over his image and over his mark, "666." They refused to take the Mark; therefore, they were put to death. But now we see them standing with the Lord, victorious and rejoicing. It says they have harps; and in vs. 3, they are singing the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb.
