Are you kind? Let me ask you this if you were arrested for being kind would there be enough evidence to convict you. Are you sure? Would your wife say that you are kind? Would she say she has a kind husband? Would your husband say that he has a kind wife? You know when you ask people when you think of Jesus Christ and His time on earth, what stands out? Usually they will say something like, kindness, gentleness, understanding and we are to be examples of Christ. We're talking about the fruit of the spirit. We're in Galatians 5:22-23 and we plan to finish this by the end of the year. But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such there is no law. And then in Colossians 3:12, listen to this verse. Therefore as God's chosen people, wholly and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. So the Bible basically says that being kind is not only a suggestion. It's really a command. That those of us who are chosen. Those of us who have been saved by God's power. Those of us who belong to the Lord. Our goal is to be like Christ and if we're going to be like Christ we are to be kind at all times and with all people. The root of that word means to be useful, to be good, to be helpful, and to be pleasant. Paul says love is kind. 1 Corinthians 13. We've already learned that love is the foundation one and really all of these fruits come out of love, they flow out of love. And certainly kindness flows out of love.
