We are learning these days about Basic Christianity .. what it means to be a Christian! And not only a Christian ... but the Church! And the book that God has given us to help us get back to the basics .. is the book of Acts.
So .. take your Bible and join me in Acts 9 where we find what happened as the result of the early church following Jesus. In fact .. what they possessed ... EVERY Christian and therefore EVERY Church must possess if we're going to be the salt and light of our community and ultimately the world! In fact ...
Without this ... there is no evangelism!
Without this ... there is no discipleship!
Without this ... there is no outreach!
Without this ... there is no ministry!
Without this ... there is no unity!
In my estimation ...it is a Must for Membership! I know it is a Must for Effective Ministry. In fact .. we're going to read today that it is also a Must for Multiplying!
And the early church was full of it! You say, "Pastor, I know what it was. It was the presence of the Holy Spirit." Well .. you are correct indirectly. It certainly was a by-product of the Holy Spirit.
Let me tell you what the early church possessed that gave them the drawing power of a magnet: they were a caring congregation! They cared for one another. They cared for those in need. They cared for the sick. They cared for the lost.
No wonder they never ran out of prospects! If you care about hurting people .. they will find you! It's no wonder they were successful in reaching people for Jesus! The early church cared for people! All kinds of people! Including people who were not like them! It is ...
