Somebody said that praise is the missing jewel of the modern church. As you look back upon your life and examine your experience, particularly if you have been in the Baptist church, or if you have been in one of the main line denominations, the thing that is missing so many times is praise. Yet, that was not the intention of God.

I want you to turn first to Psalm 22, and I want us to read several verses on praise and the importance of praise. I think people today are hungry for reality in worship. They are hungry for the real presence of the living God and they are hungry to have the need of their heart satisfied. We can only be satisfied when we do that which we were made to do. God made everything that He made to praise Him.

The Bible teaches that in eternity, all of creation will praise God, that the four living creatures who surround the throne of God in the book of Revelation, represent all of God's creation and they are continually praising Him. True praise rises from thankful heart.

The Bible shows us the angelic creatures in the prophecy of Isaiah, chapter 6, and there their constant assignment is to praise God and to cry out to the face of the Lord, "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God of Hosts." Since all of the activity of eternity will be to praise God, then we ought to get in practice right now to get ready for Glory.

Notice in Psalm 22:3, praise was a wonderful part of the relationship of God to His people. Praise is not just an emotion, praise is a relationship of God's people to the person of God.

Psalm 22:3 -- "But thou art holy, O thou that inhabits the praises of Israel."

God inhabited the praise of His people, Israel. In other words, that's where God lives. That's where God dwells in the praises of His people.
