Ephesians 6
Let's look at this passage from Ephesians 6:
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
When the Lord is our strength, we have the promise that we shall not be moved. God is our Rock and our fortress. The Lord is a sure foundation and nothing established on Him shall be moved. In Matthew 7 Jesus stated that the one who hears the word and does it is the man who built his house upon the rock. Jesus said that the one who keeps His word is wise and the one who does not keep His word or do the things commanded is a foolish man who will not stand. All of our labors are in vain if we are not building upon the rock of Jesus Christ. Look at Proverbs 24:3-5
3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: 4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. 5 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
Strength comes from the Lord. Wisdom, knowledge and understanding come from the Lord. This passage instructs us that the wise man is strong and the man of knowledge is the one who increases strength. When the Bible instructs us to gain knowledge, it is always knowledge of His word. The Bible has given us the key to knowledge and understanding in this passage I refer to frequently in Proverbs 2:1-9
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. 7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk up ...
