1. I am aware that when I preach on giving, I am preaching on the most sensitive subject on which a preacher can preach. It seems people will forgive a preacher for just about anything but preaching on giving. For some reason, for most Baptists, there is an extremely sensitive nerve that runs from the pocket book to the heart.
2. If you have been around here for any length of time, you know that I have never hesitated to preach on giving. I am sure some of you feel like the fellow who was marooned on a deserted island with another fellow. He was walking around ringing his hands, saying to himself, "We are going to die here. No one will ever find us. We are going to die here." All the time the other fellow was leaning against a coconut tree, enjoying the sun, and acting like he didn't have a care in the world. The worried fellow said to him, "Aren't you worried? Don't you realize that we will probably never be found and will die on this island?" The calm fellow replied, "Nah, I am not worried at all. My tithe is over $1,000.00 a week. My preacher will find me."
