For the next moments, I'd like us to not only think about the sacrifice that our Lord, Jesus Christ, made for us, but I'd like us to really get personal about the Jesus' command to us to remember Him every time we celebrate the Lord's Supper.

And while we cannot, nor should we ever neglect to remember the pain that Jesus suffered for us...while we should never forget the crucifixion and agony He endured as He gave His body for us, and as He gave His Blood as a perfect sacrifice for us for all time... at the same time, it is important to remember Him personally, Remember Jesus.

So this morning, let's look at the Name of Jesus and remember Him as we do so.

Names are important. You have one, I have one, and we're usually proud of our names.

We like it when others speak to us and use our names.

It's a lot nicer for me to hear someone say, hi, Pastor Jerry, than it is to say, Hi, fellow. Or Hi, dude.

Names are important and they are in fact part of our identity.

Jesus too had a name.

In fact, the angel Gabriel instructed Joseph to give a particular name to the yet unborn baby...he told him to name Him, Jesus.

In Matthew 1:21, ""She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."" (Matthew 1:21, NASB95)

J...His name is Jesus...Jesus.

He was given that Name, just as your mom or dad gave you your name.

His Heavenly Father gave Him that name.

And He will save His people from their sins.

We should never forget that at all.

That should remind us then, that Jesus is Savior...

J...Jesus.

Next think about the E in Jesus' Name.

I'm immediately reminded of Eternal.

He is eternal God.

The Prophet Isaiah reminds us of that in the familiar passage, Isaiah 9:6
