JOY FOR THE JOURNEY

I hope that you have your Bible with you tonight. When it comes your Bible and worship .. don't leave home without it! And let me encourage you again tonight to be sure to being with you .. along with your Bible .. a notepad and something to write with.
Especially on these Sunday nights as we study together the book of Philippians as we learn some things about J O Y! JOY FOR THE JOURNEY! And that JOY is centered around the person of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Is your life marked by joy? Are you known as a joyful person? Hey folks .. a joyless-Christian is an oxy moron! It's a contradiction of terms! That's like saying "clean-dirt." They are opposites! Christian ought to mean joyful! Christian ought to mean excited!
The Psalmist says in Psalm 16.11, "You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy .." And remember what Paul tells us regarding the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 6.22, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace ..."
Now here's what that tells me about joy: when we live in the fullness of His presence and are filled with His Spirit ... there is presence of joy!
Now here's the other side of that coin. When we don't live in the fullness of His presence nor are we filled with His Spirit .. there is the absence of joy.
Somebody says, "How do we live in His presence?" Living in His presence begins with repentance and faith. Turning from sin and by faith receive Him as savior! That's where it begins: with Salvation. There is no living in His presence without repentance and faith.
So it begins with Salvation. A life-changing salvation experience through Jesus Christ. First comes Salvation and then comes Sanctification. And sanctification is a word describing the process of being set apart from the world and being set apart unto God. And that process takes place through worship .. through p ...
