Joshua 1:9

Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

First, we all like to win. We want to feel happy and good about ourselves.

they had looked to him when there were battles to be fought,
and hardships to be overcome...

But they had a new leader, a very capable leader,
whom God had trained and had chosen
to lead them ...
