YES .. THERE IS HOPE!

Tonight we are picking up where we left off last Sunday night in our study of the book of 1st Peter under the heading: YES .. THERE IS HOPE!
So turn with me to 1 Peter 4. What those scattered saints needed and what we need during those times that we suffer for our faith is H O P E!
Following Jesus in no way excepts us from persecution! In fact .. the Bible tells us just the opposite! Jesus said in John 16.33, "In this world you will have tribulation." And in John 15.20, "If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you." And in John 10.24, "A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master."
There could very well come a time when Christians in America are persecuted for their faith and we need to be prepared! We need to help prepare our children and grandchildren and as we're preparing them .. praying that if faced with persecution that they would remain faithful to their Lord.
Just this week ... Baptist Press reported that recently believers in North Korea were executed. "One man who worked as an evangelist was executed after being caught with two Korean New Testaments in his possession. A woman and her grandmother were washing clothes when a New Testament fell out of the woman's clothing. Somebody reported it, and both she and her grandmother were quickly executed. And an army general who had become a believer was caught evangelizing men in his unit and was executed by a fellow officer."
I have a friend who is an international evangelist who was recently turned down for an insurance policy .. not because of hypertension ... not because of high blood pressure .. not because of a history with cancer .. but because according to them, being an international evangelist is now considered to be "a very high risk occupation."
Insurance companies, due to the threat from Islamic terrorists, consider "preachers of the Christian ...
