TEXT: Luke 2:11, For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

Psalm 8:1, O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

Psalm 29:2, Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

Psalm 34:3, O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

Psalm 45:17, I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.

Matthew 1:21, And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

John 20:31, But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

INTRODUCTION:

1. There is something very special about that name, isn't
there. We sing...

No other name but the name of Jesus,
No other name but the name of the Lord;
No other name but the name of Jesus
Is worthy of glory, and worthy of honour,
And worthy of power and all praise.1

2. When a man calls out the name Jesus, or when he
calls upon the name of Jesus, he is invoking a name that is above every name—a name that represents One who is all powerful, all-knowing, all-wise...someone who can do anything.

There is salvation in that name: "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Rom. 10:13).

John 17:3, And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

There is comfort in that name: Psalm 142:5, I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

1 Peter 5:7, Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

There is answered prayer in that name: John 14:13, And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I ...
