We often sing...
We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Steadfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
Grounded firm and deep in the Savior's love.
INTRODUCTION:

1. Today our nation is at war—and when I say we are at
war, I'm not just talking about the war in Iraq an Afghanistan, I'm talking about war here in our own country—the murders and assaults—the killing of the innocent unborn children, the tearing down of our values...it is dangerous out there.

2. But I would remind you, we have an Anchor of the
Soul...we have a Saviour—we have a friend—someone to help us in every hour of trouble.

a. David said in Psalm 5:11, "But let all those
that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee."

QUOTE: In the 17th century, Francis Sales wrote, "Do not look forward to the changes and chances of this life in fear; rather look to them with full hope that, as they arise, God, whose you are, will deliver you out of them. He is your Keeper. He has kept you hitherto. Hold fast to his dear hand, and he will lead you safely through all things; and, when you cannot stand, he will bear you in his arms. Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow. Our Father will either shield you from suffering, or he will give you strength to bear it.

I. THESE ARE FEARFUL DAYS

A. There is war and strife among nations

1. In Mark 13:8, it says, "For nation shall rise
against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.


2. I believe Iraq is only the beginning. We continue to have trouble with North Korea, Iran, Syria, Venezuela, and others...

B. There is hopelessness and fear among men

1. We, in America, have always had a certain ...
