Today we are going to look at Psalm 23. We are in the third of a series of messages on starting out this new year. Jesus said, "I came that you might have life and that you might have it more abundantly."
How can we make life rich in this new year? Well one way is to know who we are in Christ so that we can face the future with confidence. That's what I want to talk to you about today, concerning facing the future with confidence, whether you are a college student, a business person, a homemaker, a teenager in high school, or whomever you may be, God has a future for you. If you are a child of God, you can face that future with an absolute confidence.
A lot of people are afraid of the future. One of the reasons that they fear when they think about the future is that we don't know what the future holds. If you don't know what the future holds, you'd better know Him who holds the future and you'd better have your confidence and trust in Him.
Long ago, David, writing of that rich meaningful relationship that we have with Christ said, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, he leadeth me beside the still waters, he restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in paths of righteousness for his namesake and yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. Thou annointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
