Ephesians 6:10-18
INTRO:
(A) Series .... BACK TO BASICS .... of spiritual growth --What happens right after salvation.
....Looking together at the 6 elements involved in spiritual growth -- the 6 basic building blocks of the Christian life.
....You never grow beyond these 6 elements .... you grow in them .... Thus far, we've seen:
1- YOUR WORSHIP .... the moment you are saved, God creates within you a thirst to glorify Him .... to repeatedly experience His presence ....
.... Acting on that thirst .... by worshiping God .... starts you growing spiritually.
.... It also compels you to move into the 2nd element of your spiritual growth:
2- YOUR WITNESS .... Genuine worship will compel you to tell others about Jesus.
.... As you witness to others .... you are fulfilling your responsibility as the servant obeying your Master .... carrying His invitation to those who need salvation.
.... That brings us to the 3rd element of your spiritual growth.
3- YOUR WALK .... The moment you are saved .... not only does God create a thirst within you to worship Him, but He also creates within you a desire to obey Him as you walk through life with your Lord.
.... You obey God by identifying with Jesus publicly .... Then by following Jesus in baptism.
.... By learning His Word and applying it daily to your life.
.... Finally -- you obey God by spending time with Him in prayer, by communicating with Him.
.... That brings you to the 4th element of your spiritual growth:
4- YOUR WEALTH .... How you handle your money, your finances, is a true measure of your spiritual condition ... God calls you to give a tenth of your income to Him through His church.
.... Whether or not you do that is the acid test for how much you really trust God -- and how faithful you will be to Him.
