(A) John, Been There - Done That, SERIES: WHAT'S REAL AND WHAT'S NOT!
1- The ministry of Jesus, the miracles of Jesus, the cross, the resurrection, Birth of the church, expansion of the church, writing of God's Word ...John was there!
2- The future, Antichrist, one world government ...Second Coming of Jesus, Millennium, great white throne judgment, the New Jerusalem and heaven, John was there!
60 or more years after the crucifixion, John living in Ephesus as an old man, writes the final books of God's Word!
John - Qualified to tell us WHAT IS REAL AND WHAT'S NOT!
(B) Last Time - I John 4:17, ''Herein is our love made perfect''
1- I.E. - This is how we can tell that we are maturing in God's agape love!
2- 3 AREAS of your life are affected -
a- Your Assurance - As you mature in God's love, you become more confident in Him, even to the point of having ''boldness in the day of judgment.''
b- Your Awareness - As you obey God - you mature in His love by becoming more aware of His love for you.
c- Your Authenticity - As you mature in God's love - you become more authentic, more real, no phoniness, no hypocrisy - just growing in God's love and expressing that love to others in God's family.
That's what it means to be maturing in God's love!
What happens if you continue in that process - if you keep maturing in God's love?
You become what John calls - An OVERCOMER!
You move up to a higher level in your faith.
BORN TO LOSE? Once walking through the twisted little streets of Kowloon in Hong Kong, I came upon a tattoo studio. In the window were displayed samples of the tattoos available. On the chest or arms you could have tattooed an anchor or a flag or mermaid or whatever. But what struck me with force were three words that could be tattooed on one's flesh, ''Born to lose''.
