Only a small percentage of the population will ever make it into professional sports. A smaller percentage of those who do make it will make the hall of fame. It is an elite group of people.

Almost anyone can be a parent. However, a smaller percentage will make it to the parent’s hall of fame. Parents should desire to be the best they can be.

It is safe to say, in these days, when it comes to parenting it can be both good and bad. These may be the most difficult days to be a parent.

How can we be Hall of Fame parents? I want us to use an acrostic this morning of the word “Teach.”

1. THE T IS FOR TEACHER.

Whether we like it or not every parent is a teacher. Some of us might not be able to visualize ourselves in the front of a classroom teaching students. But if you are a parent, you may not lecture or teach from that position, but you will lecture and teach just the same.

1. The school is the home.
Deuteronomy 6:6, “And these words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house…” In a sense every parent is home schooling.

-The first educational institution was the home. We may be more sophisticated today. However, the home is still the primary teaching institution.

2. The subject is life.
We might call it life 101. There is a lot to learn about life. There are some delights we must learn. This might have to do with some of our holiday customs. It might be to learn what is good and not good to eat. There are many delights to life.

We must learn the dangers of life. There are so many of them. It may start with a hot stove but the lesson will not be over as there are so many other concerns.

There are some deceptions we must learn. Everything is not as it appears to be. There are some imposters in this world ...
