Joshua 3:9-17

INTRO:
.... You've heard the story, no doubt, about:


-- Fellow .... hiking .... fell off a cliff .... managed to grab hold of a limb .... suspended in mid-air .... ...Let go -- certain death ....impossible situation.
-- Began to shout: "Help! Is anybody up there?"
-- Heard a voice: "Let go. I'll catch you."
-- Man .... shocked .... "Who are you?"
-- Voice: "I'm the Lord. Let go. I'll catch you."
-- Long silence .... The man finally broke the silence: "Help! ... Is anybody else up there?"


.... God had a simple plan .... to deliver that man -- just trust God!
* The Master's Plan ....
* Hard for some to abandon themselves .... fears for God's plan.

(A) Why is it so difficult for us to let go and let God take care of us? .... to trust Him in our impossible situations?
1- God .... teaching the Children of Israel how to trust Him.
2- He very carefully brought them to an impossible situation .... Their only hope was to trust God .... to abandon themselves to God's control.

.... God showed them the secrets of success .... how they could be successful.
b- Chapter 2 .... The Cost of Service
.... The cost of their victory was to trust God .... to walk by faith, and He gave them the example of Rahab.

.... They faced their impossible situation -- the Jordan River.
