INTRO:

(A) SERIES .... A FAITH THAT WORKS!
1- The New Testament Manual of Christian Maturity ....
....The Book of James .... the 1st Book written in the New Testament.
2- James .... One primary message: "You live what you believe."
a- No room for being a phony ....or playing church games.
b- Maturity .... or the lack of it .... is the #1 problem facing most churches today.
.... In fact, the #1 cause of problems in the world is immaturity.
c- We get ourselves into all kinds of problems by saying immature things, making immature decisions, acting in immature ways .... We just need to grow up!

(B) God will allow us to go through certain life experiences .... to help up grow up: Tests to Face .... Decisions to Make .... Temptations to Overcome.
1- As we mature .... the greatest change that occurs is in our thinking .... then that is reflected in our behavior.
2- Remember .... Last week .... "To win over temptation you must make sure that your desires (your thinking) is in keeping with God's Will."
.... The battleground is the mind.
3- That is where Satan attacks us .... Remember -- just as God has a plan for your life for your fulfillment and satisfaction .... Satan has a plan for your life for your destruction and heartache.

(C) The 1st attack of Satan on your mind .... will be to try to get you to doubt God!

.... That's why your best defense against Satan's attack is to keep THINKING RIGHT ABOUT GOD.
vs. 16 .... "Err".... to be deceived or go off course! .... A picture of a ship that wanders off course.... James saying "Don't wander off course, Brothers."
-- A Christian wanders off course .... sabotages his movement toward maturity .... and his influence when he doubts God.
