Congratulations to the seniors of 2006. You have paid a price and you have reached this goal that will assist you in reaching other goals. You thought you would never get here, but you did. I can assure you the next twelve years will go a lot faster than the ones you just finished.
I really gave some thought as to how I might challenge you today. I decided to use part of the high priestly prayer of Jesus. He prayed the Father “would keep us in the world and keep us from the evil one.” I also decided to use 2 Timothy 4 where Paul describes world conditions to Timothy in the last days.
The last days will be characterized by: people pursuing pleasure, which is defined as heathenism or hedonism, by people pursuing possessions, which is defined as materialism, and people pursuing position which can be defined as narcissism.
Now if that is the way the water will flow in the last days, Christians will be going against the flow. You are going to be swimming upstream, against the current.
So, I would like for you to consider a few things this morning.
1. YOU LIVE IN A DANGEROUS WORLD.
You have been blessed to make it this far. Millions of children are abused every year. As it stands right now 2,000 children are reported missing every day. The chance that your child will become a victim of a sex offender is 1 in 3 for girls, and I in 6 for boys.
-I looked up the number of convicted sex offenders in our county. The best I could tell there are around 50. That is the ones who have been caught and convicted. How many are there our there who feed their minds on pornography every single day. They are bombs waiting to explode.
-Every two minutes in America someone is sexually assaulted.
-There are around 14 million alcoholics in America. That is about one out of 13 people. The younger the person starts drinking the more likely they are to become alcohol addicted. Alc ...
