In a speech that has taxed the memory of many a high school sophomore, Shakespeare had Mark Anthony say, ''The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones.'' Why is it that most of us are so quick to overlook the good things about a man, but recall in vivid Technicolor his mistakes?

The Bible writers never spoke of Thomas as doubting Thomas. Neither did the writers of the New Testament refer to the Good Samaritan as the Good Samaritan. However, when we think of Thomas, we think of doubting Thomas.

Thomas was known as Didymus, which means the twin. Thomas was a disciple from the ''Show me'' state. He is mentioned 9 times in the Bible.

Is it wrong to probe? Is it wrong to raise questions? Our probing and questioning can lead to a solid foundation. Doubt can lead to belief or unbelief.

-There are some skeptical saints today. Some of these saints may have reasons to doubt.

There are three reasons to doubt faith. First, we have an unseen product. I can give you my testimony of my conversion and call experience. I can tell you that is what has motivated me for the past 40 years. But I can not produce God for you this morning. I cannot call God out of the foyer and ask him to address this congregation. Oral Roberts may have seen a 90 foot Jesus but I have not.

Nations since the beginning of time have carved out idols because they want a God they can see and hold.

Second, We have some unfortunate prophets. We have some failures of ministry. Every time a minister fails, we all suffer. None of us is perfect. However, there is a lot of deception in the world today.
