Psalm 126:5-6
I've been talking to you about making a lasting impact, because that God's will for everyone our lives. We want to make a lasting impact on our world as a church, as individuals, in our lives. We want our lives to count so I've said so far that we must be a spiritual people if we are to make a lasting impact. Secondly, I said we must be a visionary people. Last week we talked about having a vision for the harvest that God has.
If we are to make a lasting impact, we must be a witnessing people. We must be a soul winning people. We must be a seed sowing people ant that's what this passage of scripture reminds us of.
Psalm 126: 5-6 – (5) They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. (6) He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
Now, here's a principle throughout the word of God, the principle of sowing and reaping. The principle of sowing and reaping simply says this, "You are going to reap exactly what you sow. You are going to reap later than you sow. You're going to reap more than you sow. You are going to sow one seed, but you are going to get back many more seed in the harvest."
I want you to listen to the following statements. Dr. George W. Truitt, who for almost fifty years was the pastor of the First Baptist Church in Dallas, said this, "The bringing of one soul to Jesus is the highest achievement possible to human life."
John Wesley, the great founder of Methodism and a great evangelist, said this to his students, "You have but one business and that is the salvation of souls."
Dr. Beecher, a great preacher of his generation, was asked the question, "What do you consider the greatest thing that a human being can do or be?"
