Three doctors are waiting in line at the pearly gates. St. Peter asks the first one, "What have you done to enter Heaven?" "I am a pediatrician, and I brought thousands of the Lord's babies into the world." "Good enough to enter the gates," replies St. Peter, and in he goes.

Then St. Peter asks the second doctor, "What have you done to enter Heaven?" "I am a general practitioner, and I went to Third World countries three times a year to cure the poor." St. Peter is impressed, and allows him through the gates.

The third doctor step up in line and, knowing the question, blurts out, "I was a director of an HMO."

St. Peter meditates on this for a while, and then says, "Fine, you can enter Heaven... but only for 2 days."

1. The CAUSE of Unbelief!

A) A CALLOUS Heart
[3: 8]--3 Repeated Admonitions
"Harden": speaks of that which has dried up, or become stiff
It has been crusted, or covered with a layer of callousness.

[3: 13]
Our view of sin tells whether our heart has become hardened.

B) A CARELESS Heart
[3: 9-10]
They had been witness to some of God's mighty, marvelous and miraculous works, but they were callous and careless to it.
[Psalm 78: 19]--"Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?"

2. The CONSEQUENCE from Unbelief!

A) A LORD that was DISPLEASED
[3: 9-10]
"grieved"--Gr. prosochthisa
Speaks of extreme anger/disgust

God was morally incensed with their callous and careless heart.
{Numbers 14: 11}"How long will this people provoke me? And how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?"

B) A LAND that was DISALLOWED
[3: 11-19]
God pronounced an irrevocable sentence upon that generation ...
