... This morning ... "GOD IS GREATER THAN" ... You fill in the blank ... Whatever your situation.
1- Welcome to Crossgate Church...our new name is very important to us.
2- Purpose of new name ... to exalt Jesus ... based on John 10:9 ...Jesus said, "I am the door (gate). If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved..."
3- "CROSSGATE" = by the cross, Jesus is our gate to eternal life.
4- Names mean a lot to us ... We use names to define our relationships ...We call someone "Dad" or "Mom" or "Pastor" or "Sweetheart" or "Sugar" ... The name we give someone defines our relationship with them!
-- Especially true when it comes to Grandparents: Mamaw, Papaw, Nannie, Granny, Grandaddy, Meemaw, Mimi, Peepee ... Bubba!
5 In Biblical days ... a name not only defined your relationship, but a person's nature ...they believed that who a person was ... his or her nature was tied up in his/her name.
6- This was also true of God ... Our God is one God, but He is so complex that no one name can adequately describe Him ... so God chose to reveal Himself to man by revealing His names to man.
a- Knowing God's names define our relationship with Him ... the better we know Him -- the closer we grow to Him.
b- We are on a journey to learn more about our God ... to grow closer to Him by learning His names so we can know Him better.
* The closer you grow to God ... the more you come to understand that He alone is ... THE ANSWER TO YOUR GREATEST NEEDS.
(B) We started our journey by seeing God as:
1- Elohim ... my Creator ... He is The Answer to My Need for a Purpose ... He created me for a purpose.
2- Adonai ... my Master ... He is The Answer to My Need for Signific ...
