I want to point out to you the process of how God used human instruments to give us the Word of God. Notice in the first verse that we are told that the Word came to Jeremiah from the Lord, and the Lord said to Jeremiah, "Write all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book." That is an interesting statement because it lets us know something of the process that takes place in putting together the Word of God.

Look at Jeremiah, chapter 36. It is one of the most interesting chapters in all of the Bible that has to do with the indestructibility of the Bible. We again see the process of inspiration of scripture.

In verse 1 it says, "And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, Take thee a roll of a book, and write in it all the words that I have spoken unto thee," and then he goes on. This is similar to what we found in chapter 30. "Write it in a roll of a book."

Keep in mind that in those days they didn't have books the way we have them. The kinds of books that we have are relatively new in the history of the world. In those days they wrote on scrolls that were rolled out.

Here was a message that God gave to Jeremiah. He said, "Write it in the book." He had a secretary named Baruch. Baruch is evidently the one who would write down the Word as God would reveal it to Jeremiah.

In this chapter you will notice that he mentions this man, Baruch, and how that he is to write the words from the mouth of Jeremiah. Baruch was to go and read this scroll of the Word in the house of the Lord.

When the princes heard the Word of the Lord read in the temple, they went and told the king, Jehoiakim. Look at verse 21. They come to Jehoiakim with this scroll of scripture, the Word of God. It was evidently winter time. Notice what it says in verse 23. In v ...
