Isaiah 55
We will soon complete our fairly brief series in the book of Isaiah. Then we will go into the book of Jeremiah. Some of the great sections in all of the Bible are in this book written by the man known as ''The Weeping Prophet.''
From there we will go to the book of Deuteronomy. You are going to find that to be one of the most interesting books in all of the Bible.
Isaiah, chapter 55, is one of the great chapters in all of the Bible. In Isaiah 53 you will recall that we dealt with another great chapter, which brings to a climax in this section of Isaiah, these marvelous and beautiful pictures of the coming Messiah, the Savior, the servant of the Lord.
You will notice in chapter 52, verse 13, that he begins by saying, ''Behold, my servant shall deal prudently.'' ''My servant,'' singular. The reference there is to the Lord Jesus Christ, the suffering servant.
Now you will notice in chapter 54, having dealt with the atoning sacrifice of the Lord Jesus for our sins to make possible our salvation, that he says at the end of verse 17, ''This is the heritage of the servants,'' plural, ''of the Lord, and their righteousness is from me, saith the Lord.''
Now we have moved from the servant of the Lord, singular, to the servants of the Lord, plural. What follows in these chapters is a picture of the overflow of all of the results of the work Jesus did on the cross to make possible our salvation.
As you move through these chapters you will find the results of Calvary. You find what Jesus dying on the cross brings into the life of the servants of the Lord, those who know and love and serve the Lord.
When you come to Isaiah 55, this is one of the great chapters of the Bible because it is one of the great invitation chapters of the Bible. In a way you could say that the Bible is one great invitation.
Sometimes you get an invitation to a wedding. You get an invitation to a banquet. ...
