This morning .. we are leaving Golgotha .. the place of suffering where our Savior was crucified ... to head to a garden ... the place of sorrow where our Savior was buried.
Now this garden tomb was no ordinary graveyard because Jesus was there! Even in His death ... Jesus turned an ordinary graveyard into a place of joy and celebration! And by the way .. wherever Jesus is .. there is joy and celebration! You can always tell when Jesus is in a church! There is joy and celebration throughout their worship!
You can sense it in the atmosphere! You can see it on the expressions of faces! You can tell it by the handshakes! And where Jesus is .. there is life! Where Jesus is .. there is truth! Where Jesus is .. there is joy! Where Jesus is .. there is peace!
You can always tells if a church is founded and focused on and following the person of Jesus Christ! You can always tell if an individual is founded and focused on and following the person of Jesus Christ! For where Jesus is . there is life .. there joy .. there peace ... there is truth.
Now when you come to chapter 19.38 ... you find the gospel (good news) from the garden!
Now .. the Apostle Paul summarized the Gospel from the Garden in 1 Corinthians 15.3-4, "For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins (past tense) according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried (past tense), and that He rose again the third day (present tense: "He arose again the third day and continue to be risen") according to the Scriptures,"
And with that in mind .. look with me to John 19 beginning in verse 38 as we read about: The Gospel from the Garden! I want to show you how what happened 2000 years ago in a garden tomb can forever change your life! I want to show you how what happened 2000 years ago in a garden tomb can forever give you joy and peace ...
