1. INTRODUCTION
1. Story of guy overweight. He had not been able to lose weight. He confided in his pastor. Next morning a slender, attractive young lady knocks at his door, "Pastor said that if you can catch me you can marry me." She turned and ran. He ran after her. For days and weeks this continued. Each day he gained on her. Each day he dropped the pounds. Finally he thought, "Today's the day. I'm going to catch her." About that time the doorbell rang. He opened the door and there stood a heavy-set girl dressed in a jogging suit. "Pastor said that if I can catch you, I can marry you."
2. That's a pretty ingenious plan! Americans are obsessed with physical fitness.
3. We've seen over the last several weeks that God wants us to be fit in every area of our lives–our faith, family, friendships, feelings, and finances.
4. This morning I want us to get a biblical perspective that will lead us to real physical fitness
2. YOUR BODY IS A TEMPLE (1 Cor. 6:19)
1. Introductory statement: The Spirit indwells us.
1. We don't just go to church. We are the Church.
2. John 7:38-39a, "Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him. (39) By this he meant the Spirit."
3. Most of us would never dream of . . .
1. Drinking in the sanctuary. Yet you are the temple.
2. Profanity in the sanctuary. Yet you are the temple.
3. Immorality in the sanctuary. Yet you are the temple.
4. Let's remove any false dichotomy between this site and our own holiness.
2. There is an emphasis on our purity
