Ephesians 2:7
If you have your Bible turn to Ephesians 2:7, and I want to continue with the message "Saving Grace". The last time we used the acrostic for GRACE and now I want to talk a little bit more about the rest of the passage. There is not greater subject in all the Bible than that of the grace of God. It is the theme of the Bible. And my prayer is that we will come to understand that not only are we saved by grace, but also we live the Christian life by grace. And I hope that we will come to understand many aspects of God's grace that perhaps we haven't quite studied as much as we have this aspect. I am looking forward to talking about how God through His grace moves in our lives. There is that healing grace, that restoring grace, sustaining grace, transforming grace. And I am looking forward to sharing about God's grace.
Now when you go into a home, many times, you will notice in the home along with books and other things a trophy case. And sometimes they are a bowler and you will see many bowling trophies. Sometimes they are a golfer and you will see many golfing trophies. Sometimes it is a hunter's home and you will see many trophies of the animals that they have killed. People are just proud of their trophies.
I have been to a lot of churches that have athletic programs and you walk in and they have all those trophy cases in their foyer as you walk in and trophies for being champions in baseball, being champions in softball, being champions in basketball, being champions in volleyball. And I will tell you one thing; every church ought to have a trophy for soul winning. We need to have trophies for soul winners. We need to be a soul winning church. And that is the kind of trophy God is going to give us some day.
