Improving Your Image – A Whole You for a Holy God

Genesis 1:26-27
We are starting a new series of messages today that I am excited about and it is called "Improving Your Image, A Whole You For A Holy God." And I am excited about it because I believe in the next several weeks we are going to discover some exciting things about how God has made us and about our purpose as the children of God. And we are going to discover how our self-image is connected with our understanding of God's image in us.
And I want you to turn to Genesis 1:26 if you have your Bible. And I want to speak today on "Uniquely You", improving your image. In Genesis 1:26 the Bible explains how God created man in His own image. There is a lot of talk today about self-image, about improving your self-image, the importance of self-image. Parents say how can I rear my children to have a healthy self-acceptance and self-image. I believe this series is the answer to that because it gives us the Biblical principles.
Genesis 1:26-27 " Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."
You don't have to travel very far around the world; in fact you don't even have to leave your own hometown to realize that God is a God of variety. God evidently like variety because He made so many different things and He made so many different people. God created, they tell us, about 300,000 different kinds of beetles. Can you imagine that? That is creative overkill. I mean wouldn't 50,000 beetles have been enough for God? But He created 300,000 different species of beetles. God created every snowflake to be different. In one cubic foot of snow you can find some 18 million s ...
