Intro: it is easter! He is alive!
A. This morning all we celebrate the reality, the victory of jesus christ over death and hell
1. Easter is the ultimate victory and good news.
2. Today, all over the world christians gather to declare the single most powerful event in history the resurrection of jesus christ.
3. Of all the religions in the world; we alone have the living savior. A savior who died for us and who rose triumphantly from grave.
4. The message of the church; is simple and powerful; he is alive! Live in his resurrection power.
(acts 2:23-24 nkj)
"whom god raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that he should be held by it."
B. The resurrection is the most important and central reality of the church.
1. Everything god said is validated by that resurrection.
Ill. It is most important for if he is not alive then everything we do here is wasted, deceiving and meaningless.
C. The question is what should we say about the resurrection this easter?
Ill. We gather to celebrate this great victory; what should be said about it today?
I. We can declare it! And celebrate it!
A. We can and should say it with joy and authority; he is risen. Indeed
B. To rub it into satan and hell. To declare to the principalities of darkness that jesus is lord and king and victorious now and forever
C. I love to embarrass satan with it!
Ill. Orthodox church; he is risen! He is risen indeed!
D. The message today is not to satan. He knows the truth. Not our focus today
Ii. We can defend it!
A. We can show its reality and truth thru the manifold witness of history, logic and evidence
B we can show that it is not hope so or theory but a verifiable fact of history; reality
