Frederick the Great of Prussia was waling on the outskirts of Berlin when he encountered a very old man walking in his direction. Frederick said, "Old man, who are you?" The old man replied, "Why, I am a king." Frederick laughed. He said, "A king! Over what kingdom do you reign?" The old man proudly replied, "Over myself."
This maybe the most important prayer written in the Bible because it sheds light on the inner resources to live life in spite of what may come your way. We, like the old man, will have control over ourselves.
And he says, "I pray that out of His glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his spirit in your inner being so that Christ may dwell in your heart through faith.
And I pray that you being established and rooted in love may have power together with all of the saints to grasp how wide, how long and how high, how deep is the love of Christ.
And to know this love that surpasses knowledge that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."
This verse shows us how to have strength to move from burned out feelings to fire up feelings. Well how do you do that? Paul says through the Spirit of God. I want us to see three things from this passage-
I. THE PROMISE OF HIS GLORIOUS RICHES
And it begins with the promise that you accept as a reality that God is a God of Glorious riches. You hath to see these glorious riches as a possibility for you.
You have to see these glorious riches as something that would benefit you in your spiritual walk with God.
Paul starts that the only way that you can be fire up in Spirit of the Lord is to see God has promised glorious riches. We need to see the fact that is the kind of God that He is.
