We do different things at our church. We understand what we are here for. We are here, as believers, to grow in the Lord, to be blessed ourselves, and to be helped and strengthened. But we know that our primary purpose as a church and as a body of believers is to win people to faith in Jesus. That's what we are all about. That's the bottom line of our church. If you ask what is the ministry of any church, it is to win people to Jesus. Fortunately, we don't have to sell you on that. You are already sold on that. You believe in that. If you really want to get our fellowship excited, start talking about reaching people for the Lord, wherever it is, in the Prison Ministry, in our Youth work, when we win people to the Lord then our fellowship gets excited. That's what puts the excitement in God's house.
Everything we do, that's always our first purpose. It's to win people to Jesus. Not our own comfort. Not what we would prefer. Not what we would like or dislike, but is it going to help us win people to Jesus?
We have known for some time that we have been having a lot more people coming to visit in our fellowship than we get record of. We get around 30 or 40 cards turned in in a service. When we have a special event, like last Sunday night we had our Children's musical, then we will have our Adult Christmas musical. We have a lot of visitors during those times. You folks are good at inviting folks and bringing folks to come to the fellowship. But we have been aware of the fact that we really haven't been able to know who they are to the degree in which they have attended.
Last Sunday night we did something a little bit different. We asked everybody to fill out a card, members and everybody, to register their attendance. I'm sure a couple of you might have said, "I've been coming to this church for 40 years. What's the point of me filling out a card?" But there was a reason for that. Our purpose w ...
