He God Up, So I Could Get In!

1 Corinthians 15: 39-58

1. I REMEMBER READING OF A GROUP OF THIRD GRADE BOYS, WHO WERE
DISCUSSING THE MANY MIRACLES, IN THE BIBLE, THAT THE LORD JESUS
PERFORMED. AS THEY REVIEWED THEM, THEY MENTIONED THE TURNING OF
WATER INTO WINE, THE FEEDING OF THE FIVE-THOUSAND, THE EXORCISM OF A
DEMON POSSESSED MAN, AND THE RAISING OF A DEAD MAN. THEN, THEY
BEGAN TO DISCUSS THE LORD'S DEATH AND HIS RESURRECTION. ONE BOY
DESCRIBED HOW JESUS WAS BEATEN, WHIPPED, SCOURGED, AND NAILED TO A
CROSS. ANOTHER DESCRIBED HOW THAT, AFTER HIS DEATH, HE WAS PLACED
IN AN EMPTY TOMB. THEN, ONE OF THE SMARTEST STUDENTS IN THE CLASS
BEGAN TO GIVE AN ELOQUENT DISSERTATION OF THE EVENT, AND USED WORDS
THAT NONE OF THE OTHER 3RD GRADERS COULD EVEN PRONOUNCE.
HOWEVER, THEY WERE NOW MORE CONFUSED THAN WHEN THEY STARTED.

2. FINALLY, THEY TURNED TO LITTLE JIMMY, WHO SAT IN THE BACK OF THE
CLASS, AND NEVER SAID A WORD. THEY ASKED JIMMY, "JIMMY, WHAT DO YOU
KNOW ABOUT IT? DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW JESUS DIED, AND CAME BACK TO
LIFE?" JIMMY, ONE OF THE POOREST, AND SLOWEST BOYS IN THE CLASS
LOOKED UP, AND SAID, "I DON'T KNOW HOW HE CAME BACK TO LIFE. ALL I
KNOW IS THAT MY DADDY TOLD ME THAT HE GOT UP, AND THAT'S GOOD
ENOUGH FOR ME!"

3. I SAY TO YOU, THIS MORNING, I DON'T UNDERSTAND ALL THAT THERE IS
TO KNOW ABOUT THE GLORIOUS RESURRECTION, BUT I AGREE WITH JIMMY, THE
BIBLE SAYS THAT HE GOT UP, AND THAT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME.

4. THERE ARE MANY TODAY WHO LOOK AT THE CROSS; YET, SAD TO SAY,
THEY LOOK NO FURTHER. THEY OBSERVE THE SACRIFICE ON THE CROSS, AND
FAIL TO SEE THE SANCTITY OF THE CAVE. BUT, THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS
THAT WITHOUT THE RESURRECTION THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO NEED FOR
THE CROSS. AND, IF THERE BE NO RESURRECTION, THEN, AS PAUL STATED
EARLIER IN THIS CHAPTER, "AND, IF CHRIST BE NOT RISEN, THEN IS OUR
PREACHING VAIN, AND YOUR FAITH IS ALSO VAIN….AND YE ARE YET IN YOUR
SINS."
