Now, friends, if you have your Bibles, turn with me to First John 5:9, and we want to speak on GOD'S TESTIMONY OF HIS SON. "If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater, for this is the witness of God which He hath testified of His Son, that he that believeth on the Son hath the witness in himself. He that believeth not, God hath made him a liar because he hath not believed the record that God gave of His Son."

If we receive the witness of men, we ought to receive THE WITNESS OF GOD, because GOD HAS TESTIFIED of His Son, and receiving Him and believing on Him we have EVERLASTING LIFE. But REFUSING to receive Him and believe Him means to make God a liar, and therefore we are not friends of God.

MAN SEPARATED FROM GOD

Now, God's TESTIMONY concerning His own Son, the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ into this world.The Bible depicts the condition of man perfectly. The Bible says that man is alienated from God, separated from God. ALL men are naturally separated from God. ALL men were born in sin, born a long way off from God. "Ye being afar off," Paul writes, of unsaved people. Afar off from God! The Bible reveals that SIN brought alienation or separation and put a LONG DISTANCE between man and God. Before Adam sinned in the Garden, he was in fellowship with God. But the minute he SINNED, that was broken, and there was a SEPARATION. You and I are born in sin, born separated from God. God gives us our physical breath and all our physical and material needs, but SPIRITUALLY and SOUL-WISE we are afar off from God.

MAN IGNORANT OF GOD

The Bible also reveals that SIN has brought about a terrible IGNORANCE of God Himself. Men do not know God. They do not know God as all that He is. They do not know what He is. That is the reason men make idols and worship them. They don't know GOD, or they would never make an idol. Idols of the heathen are idols and gods that they bring up in ...
