Someone has said, "There are two eternities, a past and a future; between these two eternities lie a speck called today." An anonymous writer has given us these words:

Time was, is past: thou canst not recall;
Time is, thou hast; employ the portion small;
Time future, is not, and may never be;
Time present is the only time for thee.

Clarence Macartney said, "Tomorrow is the word that closes the door to the house of our dreams. It is the path that leads downward to the land of regret. It is the siren song that seduces us from the path of duty. But Today is the ladder by which men climb to fame and power. It is the voice that awakens them out of slumber. It is the sword by which they smite their temptations."

We often live in the past and look to the future. Yet, today -- the present -- is the most important time in our life. It is important because today is the only time that we are certain we have. I am alive today; therefore, if I am going to live for God, I must do so today. I do not have the promise of a tomorrow or another day to live for Him. If I am going to serve God, I should do so today, for tomorrow may never come, stripping me of the chance to serve Him. If a person is not saved, then today becomes an urgent opportunity to be saved. There may not be another day and the opportunity to do so.
