I Believe in Prayer
Ike Reighard
Introduction:
One of the most difficult spiritual disciplines to master is that of distinguishing the voice of God. How do you determine the voice of our own conscience, the voice of other imitators, and GOD'S own voice?
The answer to this question lies in our ability to truly pray.
When we are listening to "other voices," CONFUSION sets in, FRUSTRATION soon follows and NEUTRALIZATION becomes the result.
PRAYER then becomes THE key to knowing the voice of God and thus realizing the Will of God.
If I had to define prayer into a thought or concept, it would be this: PRAYER IS COMMITTING MY WILL TO GOD'S WILL. PRAYER IS NOT OUR CONTROLLING GOD, IT IS GOD CONTROLLING US.
First, comes prayer to know God's Will, then comes obedience to carry out God's Will. Failure to heed this discipline results in:
**Divorce
"God bless this mess I never consulted you on."
**Financial Upheaval
"Lord, I am in debt up to my ears."
**Vocational instability
"Dear God, I hate this job. I just hate it."**Emotional stress
"I just don't think I can handle the pressure any more."
"Father, I just want to be happy."
EITHER GOD SPEAKS TODAY OR HE DOES NOT. WHAT YOU TRULY BELIEVE WILL RESULT IN WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE A PERSON OF PRAYER.

1. Seeing the Truth -- Scriptures.
2. Seeking the Truth -- Prayer.
3. Revealing the Truth -- Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:10 - "God has revealed to us through His Spirit.
For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God."
The deep things of God always involve His Will, our Realization and our Submission and Obedience. James describes this type of seeker with these words in James 1:25 --"The one who looks i ...
