Introduction

1. Fear-we all know what it is. It is one of the most Debilitating emotions known to the human race. As a matter of Fact, it is fascinating to see just what it is that people fear Most. Here are the three greatest fears people have in america: Fear number one: going to a party where they will surrounded by Strangers. Fear number two: having to speak before a crowd. Fear number three: being asked a personal question in public.1

2. Fear is unbelievably powerful. It penetrates the heart, it Poisons the spirit, and it paralyzes the soul. It can affect you Not only emotionally, mentally, spiritually; it can even affect You physically.

3. The late great louis armstrong, the trumpet player, recalled That when he was a boy in louisiana, an old woman asked him to Get her a bucket of water. He said, ''i went down to the spring And i started to dip that bucket, when i saw a pair of the Meanest eyes i've ever seen looking right at me.''

4. He said, ''i jumped up and went running back to the house. That old woman said to me, 'louis, where is my bucket of Water?''' he said, ''miss hallie mae, i can't get you any Water. There's a big ole alligator in that pond.''

5. She said, ''louis, that alligator has been there for years. That ole critter's probably just as afraid of you as you are of Him.'' he said, ''miss hallie mae, if that alligator is as Afraid of me as i am of him, then that water ain't fit to drink!''

6. Now fear is not an altogether bad thing. For example, we Teach our children early to fear hot stoves. We teach them early To fear crossing the street alone. We are even told repeatedly In the scripture to ''fear the lord.'' jesus said in matt. 10:28, ''and do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill The soul. But rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul And body in hell.''
